32lb Impressive Tarahumara Terracotta Vessel with Sinew on Iron Stand
This impressive Tarahumara terracotta vessel celebrates the bold, organic forms traditionally crafted by the Rarámuri people of Northern Mexico. Hand-built with a generous bulbous shape and wrapped with sinew, it showcases a time-honored method used both for reinforcement and for carrying large storage jars across rugged landscapes. The earthy surface, shaped entirely by hand, carries the subtle asymmetries and textural rhythms that make authentic indigenous pottery so compelling.
Condition
In good condition with a 1-inch chip to the center and scattered surface wear expected from handmade terracotta. The sinew shows natural irregularities, and the iron stand has light cosmetic wear. Solid and stable, and it displays beautifully.
