Six Sterling Japanese Export Bamboo Demitasse Spoons – 4.25"
This set of six sterling silver demitasse spoons appears to be Japanese export silver, likely dating from the 1930–1955 period and made for the American market. Each spoon features a finely cast Asian-inspired finial—including a pagoda, folding fan, teapot, lantern, thatched-roof house, and seated figure—paired with a slender bamboo-form handle. The scalloped lotus-style bowls with pierced medallion centers further support a mid-century Japanese origin, a design used frequently in tourist and giftware silver of the era.
Marked simply STERLING, the set reflects the lightweight construction and detailed craftsmanship characteristic of Japanese souvenir spoons from this period. With strong visual appeal and cultural symbolism, these spoons offer both collectible interest and decorative charm.
CONDITION
In good overall condition with surface wear, light scratches, and areas of tarnish consistent with age. Patina is present throughout, and polishing has been intentionally left to the buyer. All pieces remain structurally sound, and each is clearly marked STERLING.
