Antique Eastlake Rocking Chair with Caned Seat & Back
This antique Eastlake-style rocking chair dates to the late 19th to early 20th century, likely c. 1890–1910. It features classic Eastlake design elements, including geometric incised carving on the crest rail, strong rectilinear lines, and turned lower stretchers typical of American workshop production of the era. The tall back and gently curved seat are hand-caned in a traditional pattern, providing both durability and a warm visual contrast against the dark-stained hardwood frame.
A sturdy and functional example of late Victorian decorative taste transitioning into early American Arts & Crafts influences, this rocker is well suited for a reading nook, farmhouse interior, or period-inspired space. Its craftsmanship and stylistic details make it a charming decorative accent with authentic historical character.
CONDITION
In good condition overall, with scuffing and finish wear consistent with age. Rocker ends show noticeable wear, and one leg/rocker joint displays age-related compression but remains sturdy. Both the seat and back cane are intact with no damage. Functional and stable. Please review photos for specifics.
