Guerrero Mexican Folk Art Coconut Masks – Hand-Crafted & Painted
These hand-crafted and hand-painted coconut masks present lively, whimsical interpretations of indigenous Mexican folk imagery. Made in Guerrero, Mexico, each piece begins with a hollowed coconut shell, to which dried plant elements and seed pods are applied to form the sculptural rays and facial details. The surfaces are finished in vivid, high-gloss paints—rich yellows, reds, blues, and blacks—creating expressive characters full of charm and personality.
Both masks are unmarked and include a small hole at the top for wall mounting. Their playful colors and stylized faces make them excellent decorative accents for eclectic, folk art, or tropical-inspired interiors.
CONDITION
Good overall condition with fine cracks to the paint and clear coat, along with scattered surface wear and minor irregularities consistent with handmade folk pieces. Some flaking and touch-ups appear around the raised rays. The backs show natural coconut texture, paint residue, and original hanging holes. All wear remains cosmetic and does not diminish display appeal.
