Rustic Folk Art Child’s Chair — Mortise & Tenon, 19th Century Rustic Charm
Small in stature but rich in character, this hand-carved folk chair captures the heart of 19th-century rustic craftsmanship. Measuring just 21½ inches tall, it was likely made for a child—or perhaps as a decorative accent celebrating the artistry of rural woodworking. Each surface tells a story: the deeply incised foliate and geometric carvings, the squared mortise-and-tenon joinery, and the dark patina earned through generations of use. Though diminutive, the chair is sturdy and entirely functional—an heirloom-quality survivor of the handmade tradition.
Condition:
Good, sturdy, and functional, with age-appropriate wear throughout. Surface marks, darkened patina, and a 1-inch gap at the back of the seat (as shown). Solid structure with all joints secure.
Dimensions:
Overall: 21½" H × 13½" W × 11" D
Seat: 10" W × 11" D × 8½" H
