Ross Van Dusen Western Red Cedar Sculpture on Polished Granite Base, 16"
Distinctive sculptural work attributed to Ross Van Dusen (American, Albuquerque, NM), crafted from a natural cross-section of Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) mounted on a solid polished granite base. The cedar reveals luminous amber and rosewood hues, its concentric growth rings and organic fissures forming a striking dialogue between natural form and deliberate geometry. A precisely angled upper edge introduces architectural tension, transforming a raw wood segment into refined contemporary art.
Van Dusen—a Clio Award-winning creative director turned fine artist—has exhibited nationally, producing paintings, illustrations, and sculptural works marked by precision and wit. This piece exemplifies his sensitivity to natural material and balance of structure and spontaneity. An elegant centerpiece for home or gallery display.
Condition
Good condition overall, with light shelf wear to the granite base consistent with display. The cedar surface retains its rich tone and natural checks, highlighting the inherent beauty of the wood. Mounting hardware is secure and stable.
