Edwardian Mahogany “Stone’s Patent” Music Cabinet, Ebony Inlay, c.1910
Edwardian mahogany music cabinet featuring four drawers fitted with original brass Stone’s Patent drop-front mechanisms, designed to hinge forward for sheet music or document access. Each drawer front has been secured with an added screw through the hinge to fix it upright, easily reversible to restore the original drop-front design. The cabinet also features a right-hand paneled door, mortise-and-tenon construction, and a fixed lower shelf (9.5"H).
Finely crafted with ebony and satinwood line inlay and fitted with brass hardware, this example reflects the restrained elegance of Edwardian furniture in the Hepplewhite tradition. An aged restoration with rich color and balanced proportions, it offers both decorative appeal and functional versatility.
Condition:
Displays an aged restoration with refinished surfaces and light wear consistent with age and use. Finish presents a warm tone and even sheen. Brass hardware shows mild oxidation. Stone’s Patent mechanisms remain intact; stabilizing screws keep the drawer fronts fixed in place but may be removed to restore drop-front function. Structurally solid and ready for use.
Dimensions:
33" (H) × 31.5" (W) × 14.5" (D)
Fixed lower shelf height: 9.5"
