Pair of R.C. Gorman Lithographs, 1981 — Navajo Women Studies
Pair of lithographs after R.C. Gorman (American/Navajo, 1931–2005), both signed and dated 1981 in the lower left. Each features a seated Native American woman rendered in Gorman’s signature minimalist style, emphasizing fluid lines and soft tonal transitions. One composition shows two women draped in pale white fabric; the other depicts a woman in a vivid pink skirt and indigo blouse. These works capture the quiet dignity and grace characteristic of Gorman’s celebrated depictions of Indigenous women. Presented in matching oak frames with double matting, they display beautifully as a complementary set.
Condition:
Fair overall, with noticeable sun fading and light toning to the paper. Matting shows mild age discoloration, and frames have minor surface wear consistent with display. Despite fading, the imagery remains visible and evocative.
Dimensions:
Overall: 11 x 13 inches (each)
Visible image: 5.75 x 7.75 inches (each)
