Description

V. Molero Granada Inlaid Moorish Box w/ Key, Spain 1970s

Finely crafted Moorish-style inlaid jewelry or keepsake box by V. Molero, Artesanía Granadina, Granada, Spain. Made of solid wood with bone and faux bone columns, this exquisite piece features traditional Andalusian geometric taracea marquetry in red, green, black, and ivory hues. The design evokes the ornate arches and latticework of the Alhambra, complete with miniature carved arcades and a working brass lock with green tassel and original key.

The interior is velvet-lined in deep red and decorated with matching inlay under the lid. Retains the original V. Molero label and includes the original 1977 purchase receipt from The Gamut, Santa Fe, New Mexico. A beautiful example of mid-20th century Granadan craftsmanship blending artistry and architectural detail.

Condition:

Good condition overall. Minor separation noted at one corner section of the faux-bone pillars (does not affect structure). A fine hairline to the top inlay, visible on close inspection. Light surface wear consistent with age. Lock and hinges function properly; interior clean and intact.

Dimensions:

Overall: 5 1/4" H × 7 3/4" W × 6 1/8" D
Weight: 1 lb 10.4 oz
(Soup can shown in photos for scale)

Provenance:

Includes original receipt dated July 4, 1977, from The Gamut, Santa Fe, New Mexico ($85 original purchase).

A signed and finely detailed example of Spanish Artesanía Granadina craftsmanship—ideal for collectors of inlaid boxes or Moorish-inspired décor. Don’t miss this elegant piece by V. Molero, complete with key and documentation.
