Hamilton Letterpress Type Drawer – 89 Compartments, Cast Iron Handle, Solid Wood
Maker-marked Hamilton letterpress type drawer featuring 89 compartments of varying sizes, constructed in solid wood with the original cast iron Hamilton handle. Once part of a printer’s cabinet, this classic drawer was used to organize movable metal type and now serves beautifully as a wall display or shadow box for small collectibles. The compartment sizes range from approximately 6.25" x 2.25" to 1.5" x 1", offering versatile storage and display options. A fine example of early 20th-century industrial craftsmanship.
Condition:
Good overall condition with age-appropriate wear. Noted imperfections include a 1" chip to a divider and a 2" puncture on the back panel, as shown. Light surface marks and tonal variations consistent with use and age. The frame remains sturdy, and the handle is firmly attached and clearly stamped “HAMILTON.”
