9" Vintage Fire-King “Ivory Lustre” Plates — Anchor Hocking, 1940s–50s, Set of 4
Elegant mid-century set of four Fire-King ovenproof glass plates by Anchor Hocking Glass Corp., produced in the U.S.A. between the 1940s and 1950s. Each features the ivory lustre finish—a soft, pearlescent glaze applied over opaque milk glass, creating a warm, luminous sheen under light. Molded “Oven Fire-King Ware, Made in U.S.A.” marks on the underside confirm their authenticity. These plates exemplify the durable yet refined design that made Fire-King a household classic. Crafted from pressed, heat-resistant glass, they combine practicality with timeless mid-century style.
Dimensions:
9" diameter x 0.65" high (set of 4).
Please note: Campbell’s Soup can shown for scale.
Condition
Very Good overall. No chips, cracks, or structural damage. Visible utensil wear consistent with gentle vintage use. The lustre finish remains even and glossy across all plates.
Historical Context
Introduced around 1942, Fire-King was Anchor Hocking’s celebrated line of ovenproof glassware, known for its strength, utility, and beauty. Produced in Lancaster, Ohio, these pieces were designed for everyday use yet remain enduring collectibles. The Ivory Lustre variant—less common than white or jadeite—was made primarily during the 1940s–50s and prized for its subtle, iridescent glow.
Today, Fire-King glass is a cornerstone of mid-century kitchenware collecting, appreciated for its craftsmanship, nostalgic appeal, and enduring durability.
