1915 Macey 3-Section Barrister Bookcase – Oak, Glass Doors, Marked
Early 20th-century three-section barrister bookcase by The Macey Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan, dated June 19, 1915. Constructed of oak with iron band hardware and glass panel lift doors, each section stamped and marked with the Macey logo (“Model 910, Finish 2”). The piece features classic stacking modular construction, allowing for rearrangement or separation of sections.
A fine example of Macey’s patented design known for its practicality and craftsmanship, representing a key period in American office furniture history. Ideal for restoration or decorative reuse in a vintage-inspired setting.
Condition
Offered for restoration. Exhibits surface scratches, finish wear, and areas of finish loss throughout. A screw has been used as a pull knob on the middle door, which also shows a substandard hinge repair. One section’s door is difficult to operate but all sections remain structurally sound and stack securely. Glass panels and iron hardware present but show age-related wear.
