Korean Brass-Mounted Solid Wood Tall Chest, Burled Interior Drawers
Handcrafted Korean-style tall chest featuring solid wood construction with a cream lacquered finish and ornate gold-tone brass mounts in traditional motifs, including butterfly pulls and corner embellishments. The design reflects the jang or bandaji tradition of Korean cabinetry, prized for its symbolic brasswork and balanced proportions.
Behind the upper doors are six dovetail drawers (each approx. 1.5" deep) lined in felt and fronted in richly burled wood with matching brass hardware. Below are five additional dovetail drawers, each approximately 4.25" deep, offering ample storage. The combination of natural wood interiors and decorative brass fittings exemplifies fine Korean-inspired craftsmanship of the mid-20th century.
Condition:
Good overall condition with visible chips, scuffs, stains, and general wear consistent with age and honest use. Brass hardware shows mild oxidation; drawers operate smoothly and remain structurally sound. Presents beautifully with authentic patina and character.
