Our Lady of the Pillar Statue, 15" Gilt & Polychrome
Charming hand-painted devotional statue depicting Our Lady of the Pillar, rendered in gilt and polychrome plaster or composition. The Virgin is shown in traditional form, standing over a crescent moon with hands in prayer, wearing a richly ornamented gown and pale blue mantle adorned with raised floral decoration. Two cherubs rest at her feet, enhancing the base’s baroque-inspired structure. The figure’s gilt detailing and pastel tones evoke Spanish and Latin American devotional art of the early 20th century.
