Description

Mexican Steel & Glass Cross Lantern – 21” Folk Gothic Style Devotional

Handcrafted Mexican steel and glass cross-form lantern, early 20th century. This impressive devotional piece features clear glass panels framed in hand-soldered steel, with foliate repoussé-style finials and an octagonal pierced base decorated with leaf motifs. The geometric glazing and interior candle holder suggest use as a church or altar light.

A striking example of traditional Mexican folk religious art, blending sacred symbolism with exceptional artisanal metalwork. Its reflective steel surface and sculptural form make it a captivating display object for collectors of devotional or Mexican decorative arts.

Condition
Good condition overall, with expected patina and light surface oxidation from age. Glass panels remain intact; minor irregularities and soldering marks consistent with handmade metalwork. Sturdy and visually striking, with warm aged character.
