Danish Rosewood “Magic Box” Desk by Niels Erik Glasdam Jensen, 1960s
Mid-century Danish “Magic Box” folding desk designed by Niels Erik Glasdam Jensen for Vantinge Møbelfabrik, circa 1960s. Finely constructed in richly figured rosewood with brass hardware, this iconic piece opens to reveal an exceptionally organized workspace featuring approximately 25 interior cubbies, adjustable shelves, and a wide fold-out writing surface. The ingenious design allows it to close neatly into a minimalist cabinet form, concealing its functional interior with elegant simplicity.
A celebrated example of Danish craftsmanship and space-efficient design, this model is prized among collectors of Scandinavian modern furniture for both its sculptural beauty and practical versatility.
Condition
In good, sturdy condition with signs of use consistent with age. The rosewood surfaces show minor wear, small marks, and light finish variations. Brass hardware is intact and functional. Cabinet opens and closes smoothly; structure remains stable and solid. Please review photos for further reference.
