Description

Antique Copper Laundry Boiler w/ Lid & Wood Handles, 19th–Early 20th C.

Substantial antique oval copper boiler with fitted steel lid and turned wood handles, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Traditionally used as a laundry wash boiler or household utility tub, this heavy-gauge copper vessel features hand-dovetailed seams, rolled rim, and patinated tin interior. Its robust form and aged surface display authentic period craftsmanship typical of domestic French or Belgian copperware of the era. While likely intended for boiling linens or heating water, the tin-lined interior and shallower proportions also align with culinary copper forms such as poachers or stock kettles. Today, it serves beautifully as a decorative rustic accent, planter, or firewood holder in farmhouse or industrial interiors.

Condition
Good overall condition with age-appropriate surface wear, scratches, and small dings.
Patina and verdigris visible throughout, particularly along seams and handle mounts.
Handles and lid remain secure; minor warping from use consistent with age.
