J. Abeita Navajo Eagle Kachina Doll — Handcrafted, Signed 1988
An impressive hand-carved Eagle Kachina Doll by J. Abeita (Navajo), signed on the underside with the artist’s name, “Navajo Made,” and “Census #12279.” Crafted from wood, fur, leather, feathers, shell, and bell, this figure powerfully depicts the Eagle Spirit—symbol of strength, courage, and spiritual connection. The doll features a turquoise-painted mask with geometric detailing, natural feathered wings, and traditional regalia including fur trim and a blue leather kilt accented with painted motifs.
Accompanied by its original 1988 “The Kachina Story” booklet by Roxanne T. Heath, explaining the history and symbolism of the Kachina tradition. A fine representation of late 20th-century Navajo craftsmanship and cultural artistry—ideal for collectors of Native American art and spiritual folk carvings.
Condition:
In good condition overall, with age-related wear. Several feathers show deterioration and a few are missing from the outer wing tips. Paint and fur remain in good shape, and structure is stable. Please refer to photos for detailed condition views.
