Bradley & Hubbard Reverse Painted Floral Oil Lamp – 23” Brass Base
Authentic Bradley & Hubbard (B&H) oil lamp featuring a solid brass base with pierced trim and a reverse-painted glass shade. The shade is decorated with hand-painted roses in red and blush tones with green foliage and a pink ruffled top. Both the burner and adjustment knob are maker marked “B&H.”
The lamp reflects the company’s early 20th-century craftsmanship, combining durable brass construction with decorative artistry. The reverse-painted technique—where pigment is applied to the interior of the glass—was a signature of higher-end lamps of the period, protecting the design while producing a soft, even light.
Founded in Meriden, Connecticut, Bradley & Hubbard became one of America’s leading lighting manufacturers, holding over 200 patents and supplying finely made lamps, fixtures, and metalwork to homes and institutions nationwide. Their work is represented in major museum collections, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Condition:
Good overall condition. Brass shows an even, age-appropriate patina. The reverse-painted decoration remains clear and intact.
