19th C. French Walnut Buffet with Marble Top & Brass Mounts
This 19th-century French walnut buffet is topped with a 0.75-inch removable marble slab in warm variegated brown tones, lending both elegance and durability. The case is fitted with three dovetailed drawers, including a central flip-down storage compartment, over a pair of beveled panel doors that open to a removable interior shelf (heights 8 ¾" and 7 ⅞"). Decorative carved uprights and paneled sides emphasize the craftsmanship, while cast brass handles and escutcheons highlight the period character.
Functional and versatile, the buffet retains one working key with all locks in operable order. Raised on discreet casters, it can be easily repositioned while remaining sturdy. Both attractive and practical, this piece offers abundant storage and is suitable as a centerpiece for dining, living, or entry spaces. A fine example of French provincial craftsmanship blending utility with neoclassical elegance.
Condition:
Good antique condition. Minor nicks, scratches, and wear consistent with age. Marble top shows light edge chips and surface wear. Evidence of earlier restoration. Locks remain functional, drawers and doors open smoothly, and the piece presents well.
Dimensions:
36.25 x 48.5 x 22.5 inches (Height x Width x Depth).
