Navajo Sterling Silver Turquoise & Coral Reversible Pillow Pendant Necklace
A substantial Navajo sterling silver reversible “pillow” pendant necklace, set with turquoise on one side and coral on the other. Each face displays four natural cabochons: turquoise stones ranging from 12.43 x 6.55 mm to 8.12 x 5.21 mm, and coral stones from 11.28 x 6.23 mm to 10.07 x 5.11 mm. Both sides are decorated with applied silver leaf motifs and raised bead accents against a darkened background, creating depth and contrast.
The pendant is suspended from a 24-inch sterling silver chain with a spring ring clasp (both tested, unmarked). This bold, reversible form reflects mid-20th century Navajo artistry, where turquoise and coral were often paired to symbolize sky and earth. At 60.69 grams, the necklace has impressive weight and presence, offering versatility as either a collector’s piece or a striking wearable statement.
Condition
Good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. Stones are secure and show natural surface inclusions. The silver retains areas of tarnish and patina; polishing has been left to the buyer’s discretion. Chain and clasp are intact and functional.
