British West Africa 10 Shillings Note – 1957, West African Currency Board
Offered here is a British West Africa 10 Shillings banknote, issued on 9th August 1957 by the West African Currency Board. This historic note, printed by Waterlow & Sons, London, features rich green detailing with a tropical river scene on the obverse and an agricultural vignette with farmers and a harvest scene on the reverse. The denomination “Ten Shillings” is boldly displayed in both English and Arabic script, reflecting its use across British West African colonies including Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Gambia.
Banknotes from this period are sought after for their historical and colonial significance, as they mark the transition years leading up to independence movements across the region.
