This vintage 1 troy ounce .999 fine silver bar was struck by W.H. Foster, Inc., a private mint operating out of Walla Walla, Washington in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Foster is remembered as a pioneer of American “art bars,” producing silver bullion with distinctive designs rather than plain ingots.
The obverse features a boldly spread eagle perched above a banner inscribed “.999 SILVER,” with the weight “1” shown below. The reverse is plain, with light age and surface marks that testify to its history. This compact bullion piece has the rustic, hand-finished charm characteristic of Foster’s early issues.
