1971-D Eisenhower Dollar – Denver Mint – Copper-Nickel Clad
This listing features a 1971-D Eisenhower Dollar struck at the Denver Mint. The obverse depicts a left-facing portrait of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, designed by Frank Gasparro, with the date “1971” and the mintmark “D” below the neck. The reverse, based on the Apollo 11 mission insignia, shows a bald eagle landing on the moon clutching an olive branch, with Earth visible in the background. This was the first year of issue for the Eisenhower Dollar, and the Denver Mint produced circulation-strike examples in copper-nickel clad composition.
