This 1989 United States Congressional Bicentennial Three-Coin Proof Set was issued by the U.S. Mint to mark the 200th anniversary of Congress. The highlight of the set is the $5 Gold Half Eagle, struck at West Point and containing .2419 oz of pure gold. It is accompanied by a Silver Dollar (0.7734 oz actual silver weight) and a clad Half Dollar, both struck at the San Francisco Mint in proof quality. Obverse designs feature the Capitol Dome, the Statue of Freedom, and a commemorative bust portrait, with reverses celebrating the history and symbolism of Congress.
The coins remain sealed in their original capsules and are presented in the official Mint’s deluxe velvet-lined case with gilt Great Seal emblem, housed in the original outer box with the Certificate of Authenticity. This set combines tangible gold and silver value with strong historical significance, making it an outstanding addition for collectors and investors alike.
