This listing features a 1901 British Gold Sovereign struck at the Melbourne Mint, identified by the “M” mintmark on the reverse. The obverse carries the "Old Head" portrait of Queen Victoria by Sir Thomas Brock, used during the final years of her reign. The reverse presents Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic design of St. George slaying the dragon. This was the last sovereign issue of Queen Victoria’s reign, concluding the long-running “Veiled Head” series.
