Description

Pair of Huichol Beaded Lizards – Handcrafted Wood & Glass Beads

Pair of handcrafted Huichol (Wixarika) beaded lizards, carved from wood and intricately adorned with colorful glass seed beads. Applied using traditional beeswax methods, the beadwork forms geometric and floral motifs in vivid hues of blue, orange, red, yellow, black, and green. The Huichol are renowned for their symbolic bead art, where animal forms often represent spiritual guides and elements of nature.

These vibrant lizard figures combine folk tradition with eye-catching decorative appeal, making them ideal for collectors of Mexican art or as striking display pieces in any setting.

Condition:
Good overall, with colorful beadwork largely intact. Both figures show minor head loss as noted in the photos. Undersides display natural wear to the wood, consistent with age and handling.

Dimensions:
Larger lizard: 1.75" H x 3" W x 13.25" L
Smaller lizard: 0.5" H x 2.25" W x 10.25" L
Campbell’s soup can shown for scale
