Amador Hotel Antique Onyx-Top Walnut Table — Las Cruces Provenance
An antique walnut occasional table with an inset oval onyx top, its richly veined surface displaying striking tones of green, rose, and amber. The apron is carved with scrolling motifs above a reeded border, supported on four slender fluted legs terminating in pad feet. A fine example of late 19th to early 20th century craftsmanship, blending elegance with durability.
This table carries special significance as part of the furnishings of the Amador Hotel in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Built in 1866 and expanded in 1885, the Amador Hotel quickly became the civic and cultural hub of the region—hosting travelers, community gatherings, and social events for generations. Period photographs of its interiors show finely crafted furniture much like this, reflecting the refinement and hospitality for which the hotel was known. The table was acquired through Annie Laurie Campbell, who managed the property mid-century, and has remained in the private collection of a respected Las Cruces family since.
Accompanied by a Statement of Provenance issued by MVES, this table is more than furniture—it is a tangible artifact of Las Cruces’s cultural past, offering collectors a rare opportunity to own a piece of the Amador Hotel’s history.
