Description

Pair of Rising Sky Pottery Covered Casseroles / Serving Bowls — Signed Las Cruces, NM

Pair of signed Rising Sky Artworks covered casseroles / serving bowls, handcrafted in Las Cruces, New Mexico by Richard and Dorothy Rising. Each is finished in a warm beige glaze accented by a bold diagonal brown band, with sculpted double handles and scroll-style lid finials adorned with floral medallion details. Both are incised “Rising” and “Las Cruces” on the underside.

Rising Sky Artworks, active from 1986 until about 2016, was a husband-and-wife pottery studio known for high-fire stoneware fired to approximately 2400 °F. Their durable pieces, inspired by the desert landscape and skies of the Southwest, were designed to be both functional and beautiful. Similar Rising Sky works are noted as oven-safe, microwaveable, dishwasher-safe, and lead-free, making these bowls equally suited for use or display. A rare opportunity to acquire a signed pair from this sought-after New Mexico studio.
