Laurel “Mushroom” Table Lamp – Chrome, 3-Way, Frosted Glass (c. 1965)
An authentic piece of mid-century modern lighting design: this Laurel “Mushroom” table lamp (c. 1965) comes complete with its original foil label from Laurel Lamp Mfg. Co. — an essential detail that confirms its provenance and sets it apart from imitators. With a flared chrome base and frosted glass dome shade, this lamp embodies the sculptural minimalism that has made Laurel a legend among American lighting manufacturers. The 3-way switch offers versatility, while the frosted glass diffuses light into a warm, ambient glow.
Part of Laurel’s innovative ac’-cent collection, this model represents one of up to 54 combinations of base styles, finishes, and shades offered during the 1960s. Widely attributed to designer Bill Curry, the Mushroom lamp remains highly collectible, with examples commanding strong auction results and market values. For collectors, the presence of the original Laurel label makes this example especially desirable.
Condition
Good, fully functional, and tested. The chrome base shows age-appropriate surface wear and finish loss, left unpolished for the buyer’s discretion. The frosted glass shade has cracks and small chips around the fitter opening, not visible when the lamp is assembled and illuminated. Please see all photos for details.
