Ottoman Ceramic Rosewater Bottle with Silver Bands
An elegant Ottoman ceramic rosewater bottle, featuring a bulbous ribbed body that rises into a tall, tapering neck. The vessel is finished in a glossy black glaze and accented with two silver bands at the base and collar. Decorative carved and incised motifs encircle the shoulder, adding texture and refinement to the dark, lustrous surface.
Rosewater bottles (gülabdan) were essential in Ottoman culture, used in religious, ceremonial, and social settings to sprinkle rosewater as a gesture of hospitality and purification. This example follows the classic Ottoman form but distinguishes itself through its deep black finish and contrasting silver accents, giving it both visual strength and elegance. A refined piece for collectors of Islamic ceramics, Ottoman decorative arts, or historic vessels.
Condition:
In very good condition, with light surface wear consistent with age. The glaze remains glossy with minor scuffing, and the silver bands show natural tarnish. No major cracks or repairs are evident.
