Post-WWII Era Doehler Military Issue Steel Trunk — 1949
A Post–World War II era military issue steel trunk, manufactured in 1949 by Doehler Metal Products Corp., New York, a long-standing supplier of field equipment to the U.S. Army. Built from heavy-gauge steel with riveted trim and reinforced corners, the trunk retains its original olive drab finish. Features include dual front latches with a central clasp, drop-down side handles for transport, and a spacious interior. The lid bears its original oval brass maker’s plate stamped “1949 Doehler Metal Products Corp., New York”, confirming authenticity and military provenance.
This rugged piece is both collectible and versatile—valued by militaria enthusiasts for its authenticity and equally appreciated as a striking industrial accent. Suitable for use as a coffee table, blanket chest, or storage trunk, it carries forward both historical and functional appeal.
Condition
Good vintage condition with original, age-appropriate wear. Paint is scratched, chipped, and scuffed throughout, particularly along edges and corners. Hardware and handles are intact and functional. Maker’s plate is clearly legible and securely attached. Comes as shown in photographs.
