Minguet Framed Art Gallery Poster – Tropical Still Life with Landscape, Rambaud Hill
A lively gallery poster by Alexandre Minguet (1937–1996), issued for his Art Gallery at Rambaud Hill in St. Martin. This composition combines a colorful floral arrangement in a bold blue vase with a radiant Caribbean hillside view, complete with village houses and glimpses of the sea. Executed in Minguet’s signature palette of saturated yellows, greens, reds, and blues, the work captures both his Parisian training and his embrace of Caribbean vibrancy. The artist’s printed name “minguet” appears at the base of the composition.
Born in France and trained in Paris, Minguet later established his own gallery in St. Martin, which continues today under the direction of his daughter Catherine. Posters such as this one were distributed in the late 20th century as official gallery works and are now sought after as collectible artifacts of Caribbean art history. Similar examples have appeared at auction in the $100–200 range, with signed limited editions of his lithographs commanding higher values.
