Description

Louis XV Revival Carved Walnut Marble-Top Dresser with Beveled Mirror, c. 1880s

A refined 19th-century Louis XV Revival dresser, crafted in richly carved walnut and topped with a removable white marble surface. The tall, attached beveled mirror is framed with ornate Rococo-style carving, including scrolls, floral motifs, and a central crest, capturing the elegance of the Louis XV tradition. The serpentine-front case is fitted with five dovetailed drawers, each secured by a functional lock with included key, offering both utility and grace.

Pieces such as this embody the Victorian era’s fascination with French design, where practicality was elevated through luxury materials and masterful carving. The flowing silhouette, intricate ornamentation, and marble top make this dresser not only a functional storage piece but also a striking focal point for the bedroom or parlor.

Condition:
Overall in good condition, with light surface wear consistent with age. The walnut case retains a warm patina, with minor scuffs primarily along the base. The marble top is intact, with light signs of use. The beveled mirror presents well, with some wear typical of its age. All five drawers operate, and locks remain functional with the original key.

Dimensions:

  • Dresser only: 39″ H × 47½″ W × 21″ D
  • Overall with mirror: 83″ H
