Description

18 Carved Stone Eggs (Alabaster, Onyx & More) with Signed Studio Pottery Bowl

A striking collection of eighteen carved stone eggs displayed in a signed studio pottery bowl. The eggs are crafted from a range of decorative stones, including alabaster, onyx, marble, and other minerals, each polished to a smooth finish that reveals the natural veining, banding, and coloration of the stone. Three larger examples measure approximately 3 x 2 inches and weigh about 9 oz each, while fifteen smaller eggs measure 2 x 1 5/8 inches and weigh about 4.5 oz each. Shades range from creamy alabaster and marbled browns to translucent greens, rich blacks, and purples, making the group visually diverse and highly decorative.

Carved stone eggs have long symbolized renewal and beauty, admired in both ancient and modern decorative traditions. Their unique geological variations—stripes, speckles, and inclusions—are considered distinguishing features, not flaws, and contribute to their collectible charm. The accompanying signed studio pottery bowl (2 1/2 inches high, 10 inches diameter), finished in a pale glaze with visible crazing, complements the set as both a functional display vessel and a collectible in its own right. Together, this ensemble offers aesthetic appeal, symbolic resonance, and collectible interest, ideal for home décor or mineral collections.

Condition:

Good condition overall. The stone eggs retain their polished surfaces with only minor surface wear consistent with age. The pottery bowl shows glaze crazing and light wear but remains structurally sound, with the impressed signature visible on the underside.
