Description

J. Hoare & Co. American Brilliant Cut Glass Vase or Carafe – 7", c.1900

A finely cut American Brilliant Period glass piece by J. Hoare & Co., Corning, New York, circa 1900. The body features elaborate hobstar, fan, and cross-hatched motifs, cut with the precision and depth for which Hoare was celebrated. The neck displays distinctive step-cut notching, while the base bears a radiant starburst. The carafe or vase retains excellent clarity and brilliance, reflecting the highest quality of Brilliant Period craftsmanship.

J. Hoare was among the foremost glassmakers of the era, producing award-winning designs that remain highly sought after today. This substantial example, weighing nearly 4 lbs, is both a functional vessel and a striking centerpiece for collectors of fine cut glass.

Condition

Good condition overall, with crisp cutting and fine clarity. Displays minor “flea bites” along some edges and light shelf wear to the base, consistent with age. No major chips, cracks, or repairs observed.
