José Cisneros First Thanksgiving — Signed Artist’s Proof, Framed
This work is First Thanksgiving, an artist’s proof by José Cisneros (1910–2009), the acclaimed illustrator celebrated for his richly detailed depictions of Southwestern and early colonial history. Created in 1988 as part of the Lone Star Lifestyle series (Series I, Number 11), this scene portrays Spanish settlers and Native peoples gathered around a communal meal, rendered with Cisneros’ signature precision in linework and hand coloring.
The print is hand-signed in pencil by the artist at the lower right and inscribed Artist Proof at the lower left, making it rarer than the standard numbered editions.
