Konami Contra Arcade Machine – 1987 Original, Fully Functional

An authentic 1987 Konami Contra arcade cabinet, one of the most recognizable titles from the golden age of arcades. Contra’s fast-paced cooperative run-and-gun gameplay made it a cornerstone of coin-op entertainment, and this original upright cabinet preserves that experience with its jungle-themed control panel, bold side art, and dual joystick setup. The machine retains its factory Konami serial label (#072278) and features the original 25¢ coin mechanisms.

This cabinet is tested and fully functional, with responsive joysticks and working gameplay. While the right coin slot is inoperative, the left functions as intended. All control buttons are responsive, though faded with age. The speakers are currently nonfunctional, and the marquee light requires a simple bulb replacement. No keys are included; the rear lock is engaged, while the front coin door and tray remain unlocked. Despite age-related wear, this machine remains a highly collectible and playable example of an arcade legend.

Comparable examples in excellent restored condition have sold in the $3,000–$5,000 range. Given its originality, tested functionality, and condition, this cabinet represents an excellent opportunity for collectors, hobbyists, or restorers seeking a genuine piece of arcade history.

Condition:

In good working order with cosmetic wear consistent with commercial use and age. Cabinet shows scratches, scuffing, chipped edges, fading artwork, and finish loss. Buttons are fully functional but faded, and joysticks operate smoothly. The right coin slot does not work, the speakers are inoperative, and the marquee light bulb needs replacement.
