Sacred Heart “Abrazo de Amor del Universo” Nicho by R. Pindter, Mexico
Handmade in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, this striking folk art nicho was created by R. Pindter Taller. Constructed of pressed steel with linen backing, the shrine features six mirrored panels and a hinged door that opens to reveal twin red sacred hearts with gilt flames, adorned with hand-painted flowers and gold detailing. A radiant sunburst crown rises above, while a banner reads “Abrazo de Amor del Universo” (“Embrace of Love of the Universe”).
A traditional devotional object of Mexican folk art, this nicho combines religious symbolism with intricate craftsmanship. Designed for versatility, it can be hung on a wall or displayed standing as a frame, making it a compelling piece for collectors and those who appreciate handmade spiritual art.
Condition
Good condition overall. No damaged panels. Loss to mirror finish on most panels, consistent with age and handmade construction. Hinges and structure remain sound.
