Seguro Espiritual Hand-Painted Tin Retablo, R. Pindter Taller, Mexico
Colorful Seguro Espiritual retablo, handcrafted at R. Pindter Taller in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. Constructed of pressed steel with five glass-panel doors, this devotional piece is hand-painted in vivid turquoise with floral motifs, glitter accents, and a raised heart at the crest. Each hinged door opens to reveal an image of a saint, dedicated through painted banners to life’s blessings: Pa’l negocio! (for business), Pa’l dinero! (for money), Pa’ los amores! (for love), Pa’ protegernos! (for protection), and Y pa’ lo que falte!! (for whatever else is needed).
This lively folk art tradition, rooted in the centuries-old practice of Mexican tin retablos, blends devotion with humor and popular culture. Attributed to Rocio Edith Pindter Ortiz and her workshop, known for vibrant tin-and-glass nichos, it represents the enduring artistic spirit of San Miguel’s artisan community. A striking wall-mountable piece for collectors of Latin American folk art and devotional objects.
