C. Concho Acoma Pueblo Miniature Seed Pot – Bird Motif
This miniature seed pot was created by C. Concho (Carolyn Lewis-Concho) of Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico. Hand-coiled and painted with natural pigments, it features a stylized bird motif framed by a bold geometric border in earth tones of black, rust-red, orange, and green. Its compact form demonstrates the artist’s mastery of fine-line painting on a rounded surface, a hallmark of Acoma pottery.
Carolyn Concho, part of the well-known Lewis family and one of the “Five Lewis Sisters” of Acoma, is celebrated for her miniature works inspired by traditional Pueblo and Mimbres designs. Working exclusively with natural clays and paints, she continues a long heritage of Acoma artistry. Her pottery has received awards at major Native art markets and is highly sought by collectors. The base is hand-signed “C. Concho, Acoma, NM.”
