C. Lucario Acoma Pueblo Pottery Quail Figurine – Hand Painted
Hand-painted pottery quail effigy by C. (Caroline) Lucario of Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico. Formed with graceful curves and a raised crest, the piece is richly decorated in traditional Acoma polychrome with geometric black and rust-red motifs on a cream ground, accented by white dotted patterns. Signed C. Lucario on the underside.
Caroline Lucario is known for her finely detailed animal effigies, particularly quail, which hold symbolic significance in Pueblo culture as messengers of community and abundance. Her work continues the centuries-old Acoma tradition of hand-coiled pottery, painted with natural pigments and yucca brushes. Collectors prize these pieces both for their artistry and for their connection to one of the most celebrated pottery centers in the American Southwest.
