3.5” Hand-Coiled Native Style Pottery Jar with Turtle Motif
A finely crafted hand-coiled and hand-painted pottery jar, decorated in the Southwestern Native American style. The warm marbled clay body is accented with bold black and red painted designs, featuring a stylized turtle—an enduring symbol of longevity, wisdom, and protection in Native traditions. Dynamic surrounding motifs create rhythmic movement, enhancing the vessel’s visual appeal.
This unsigned example reflects the traditional Pueblo-inspired technique of coil construction and natural slip painting, resulting in a compact yet expressive form. Its rounded shape with a flared rim makes it an excellent display piece, whether as part of a Native American pottery collection or as a distinctive decorative accent. A Campbell’s soup can is shown in photos for scale.
