Lot of 3 Kodak Cameras – Bull’s-Eye Box (2) + Folding Retina-Style
A compelling lot of three vintage Kodak cameras that span mid-century consumer photography: two Kodak Brownie Bull’s-Eye box cameras (black and beige versions) and one Kodak folding Retina-style camera with a Compur-Rapid shutter.
The Brownie Bull’s-Eye models were produced by Eastman Kodak between 1954 and 1960. Designed by Arthur H. Crapsey, these cameras feature a bakelite body, metal faceplate, and the Kodak Twindar two-element lens with three focus zones for “scenes,” “groups,” and “close-ups.” They use 620 roll film, producing 8 exposures of approximately 6×9 cm. Simple yet durable, the Bull’s-Eye remains an iconic mid-century snapshot camera.
The folding Kodak camera, likely a Retina-style model, was built by Kodak AG in Germany. Equipped with a Compur-Rapid shutter and often paired with Schneider Retina-Xenar or Rodenstock Ysar lenses, these cameras were precision instruments designed for 35 mm film photography, representing the higher end of Kodak’s consumer line.
