Viking Walnut Grandfather Clock – Hermle 451‑050H Westminster, 1983
A refined piece for collectors and enthusiasts—this grandfather clock is a Viking Clock Co. walnut-finished kit, assembled in 1983 with a premium Hermle 451‑050H Black Forest German movement. The warm walnut-stained solid wood case includes a swan-neck pediment, arched bonnet, beveled glass, and a pedestal base with discreet felt-lined drawer. The dial blends brass and silver tones, featuring raised Arabic numerals, decorative spandrels, and a moon phase dial. Visible through the front glass are the polished brass pendulum and three unmarked weights.
Though Viking provided the cabinetry, the clock was assembled by an individual (as indicated by a removable “Handcrafted by Otto Brock 1983” plaque) and does not imply proprietary design. The Hermle 8-day movement runs well and maintains accurate time, though the chime requires servicing or is disabled.
Condition:
Good. Shows minor scuffs, chips on the pedestal’s front and left corner, and a damaged bottom magnetic closure. Glass and brass elements remain intact and polished.
