Description

1947 Córdoba Bullfighting Poster by Ruano Llopis – Domingo Ortega & Dominguín

Original 1947 Spanish bullfighting poster for the Plaza de Toros de Córdoba, advertising an extraordinaria corrida de toros held Sunday, May 25, 1947. Designed by celebrated Spanish artist Carlos Ruano Llopis (1878–1950), the vivid lithograph captures a matador mid-pass, red cape unfurled against the charging bull. Llopis was one of the foremost bullfight posterists of the 20th century, renowned for his painterly style and dynamic composition. Printed by the esteemed Litografía Ortega of Valencia, the work features famed matadors Domingo Ortega, Luis Miguel Dominguín, and Agustín Parra “Parrita”, with six bulls from the prestigious Clemente Tassara ranch.

Mounted on board. The imagery remains bold and impactful, reflecting the golden era of Spanish corrida culture. Similar Llopis posters from the 1940s are highly sought by collectors.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with visible age toning, creases, edge wear, and light surface marks consistent with a 1940s display piece. Colors remain vibrant, and the image retains strong visual appeal. Securely mounted to board with maker’s stamp visible on the reverse.

Dimensions:
Approximately 50.5 x 27.5 inches (mounted).
