Description

Pair of Hand-Painted Talavera Lidded Jars – Fruit & Floral Designs

Pair of vividly hand-painted Talavera-style pottery jars with lids, both crafted in Mexico and marked on the base. The larger jar features a classic fruit motif—pineapple, grapes, melons—while the smaller displays bold floral and scrollwork in rich cobalt, gold, and red. These pieces reflect the centuries-old Talavera tradition, a ceramic art form originating in 16th-century Puebla that blends Spanish majolica glazing with indigenous artistry.

Talavera pottery is prized for its luminous glazes and hand-painted designs, and authentic examples from recognized workshops are highly collectible. These jars make striking decorative accents and carry the heritage of one of Mexico’s most celebrated folk art traditions.

Condition:
Good condition overall, with no chips, cracks, or repairs noted. Hand-painting variations and minor production imperfections typical of artisan-made pottery.

Dimensions:

  • With Lid (Fruit): 9.5" H x 6" Diameter
  • With Lid (Floral): 5" H x 5" Diameter
