Description

A. Danel 1990 Austin Productions Sleeping Pig Sculpture – 20"

A charming and substantial sculpture of a peacefully sleeping pig, signed A. Danel (Alexsander Danel, 1940–2001) and dated 1990 for Austin Productions. Expertly modeled with floppy ears, a curled tail, and a softly textured surface, the piece captures the warmth and whimsy of its subject. Rendered in a pinkish-tan stone-like composite, it embodies both rustic charm and fine sculptural detail.

Alexsander Danel, known for his expressive and approachable designs, created several collectible animal figures for Austin Productions, including the well-known “Julia the Pig.” Founded in 1952, Austin Productions earned a reputation for bringing gallery-quality art to a wider audience, crafting durable, detailed sculptures in their signature Durastone composite. This large, 14 lb example is perfect for farmhouse décor, whimsical garden display, or as a unique centerpiece in an art collection.
