Description

1972 Triumph TR6 Roadster

This 1972 Triumph TR6 is a freshly restored, matching-number British sports car, blending period-correct styling with thoughtfully selected enhancements for reliability and drivability. Finished in Signal Red over a tan interior, the TR6 is powered by its correct 2.5-liter inline-six fed by twin Weber downdraft carburetors and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission featuring factory overdrive. Recent professional work includes a full repaint, new black canvas convertible top, custom boot cover, replacement fuel tank and lines, refreshed chrome, and interior trim updates. With a clear New Mexico title in hand and five new factory-style manuals.

Exterior

Finished in show-quality Signal Red (base/clear), the exterior exhibits straight body panels, mostly even gaps, and a deep gloss free of notable imperfections. Chrome bumpers and brightwork present to a high standard, with new pieces installed as needed during the restoration. The new black canvas convertible top features a clear rear window, and a custom boot cover—tailored by a local upholstery shop—completes the presentation when the top is stowed. Factory steel wheels with TR6 logo center caps are wrapped in Coker Classic redline radial tires for a period-correct stance.

Interior

The cockpit is trimmed in tan upholstery with the passenger seat reupholstered during restoration to match the driver’s seat and door panels. A wood-veneer dashboard houses Smiths instrumentation and original-style toggle switchgear. Chrome handles and interior brightwork present well, and black carpeting is clean and properly fitted. A discreet Sony AM/FM/CD head unit provides modern audio capability while preserving the cabin’s classic character. (Note: steering wheel emblem is currently missing.)

Drivetrain & Mechanical

The 2.5-liter inline-six starts easily from cold, idles smoothly, and runs cool. Power is delivered through a 4-speed manual gearbox with factory overdrive that engages cleanly, enabling relaxed highway cruising. The fuel system benefits from a new tank and lines, and the twin Weber carburetors provide improved drivability over the factory Zenith-Strombergs (original carburetors not included). The braking system has been updated from stock for improved stopping, while the suspension—refreshed approximately four years ago—remains tight and compliant. Steering is precise with no excess play.

  • Mechanical systems: Engine, gearbox, overdrive, cooling, wipers, gauges, horn, brake lights, and interior lights are operable.
  • Electrical note: Headlights and turn signals are currently inoperable and will require sorting.

Undercarriage & Suspension

Inspection indicates solid original floors with no corrosion noted and no frame repairs reported. Fuel and brake lines were replaced during restoration, and components present clean routing and sound condition. The car tracks straight, rides well, and shows no signs of overheating or drivability concerns in regular use.
