Description

Beth Bird, Red Angel — Limited Edition Lithograph, 32/250, Signed

Beautiful limited-edition lithograph by Beth Bird, titled Red Angel. This work features a graceful female figure in profile, dressed in a richly patterned flowing red gown, her dark hair styled in a high bun, and carrying a bouquet of flowers. Stylized wings and a delicate scattering of roses fill the background, set against a softly textured red field. The composition blends narrative charm with Bird’s signature use of intricate pattern and decorative detailing. Pencil signed by the artist lower left and numbered 32/250 lower right. Elegantly presented matted and framed behind glass in an ornate gold-tone frame.

About the Artist:
Beth Bird is a printmaker and painter from Galena, Illinois, celebrated for her narrative works often featuring women, birds, and symbolic objects. She studied art at the University of Iowa under master printmaker Mauricio Lasansky, also participating in the university’s acclaimed Writer’s Workshop—an early influence on her storytelling approach. After earning a master’s degree in art therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she explored multiple printmaking techniques at the Evanston Art Center before focusing on etching, drypoint, and hand-coloring. In 1996, she founded her own print studio in a century-old farmhouse and later became a Ragdale fellow. Bird’s works are held in the permanent collections of the Iowa Methodist Medical Center and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and have been exhibited at the Dubuque Museum of Art and the Union League Club of Chicago.
